Although Canada has invested in surveillance of avian influenza virus (AIV)  in wild birds and the environment, there remains a critical gap in understanding how this surveillance data is used by stakeholders—particularly poultry producers, poultry industry partners (veterinarians, provincial poultry marketing boards, national poultry councils, feed mill suppliers/representatives, provincial poultry specialists and agrologists, etc.), and hunter-harvesters. This project seeks to evaluate how poultry producers, poultry industry partners, and hunter-harvesters in Ontario respond to AIV-related signals from wildlife and environmental surveillance, and to identify ways to improve communication of these risks.
